SMV-2023-57: EM analysis of microorganisms II
Hrubanová, Kamila
The aim of the contract research was the expert analysis of microbiological samples with biotechnological significance with the intention of describing the ultrastructure of the cells, which depends on the cultivation conditions of the industrial process. The collaboration included cryogenic preparation of samples, followed by microbial microscopy using low-temperature electron microscopy (cryo-SEM), and selected samples were processed for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Furthermore, spectroscopic measurements were performed using Raman spectroscopy.

SMV-2023-54: EM Nematodes II 2023
Hrubanová, Kamila
The aim of the contract research was the expert analysis of biological samples with the intention of describing morphological features for species classification. As part of the collaboration, chemical preparation of the samples was carried out, followed by observation of the bodies of the nematodes themselves in different positions so that individual morphological characters could be distinguished using an electron microscope.

Analysis of Whirling of Gas Flow within the Specimen Chamber of ESEM
Bayer, Robert
The usage of an Environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) brings the possibility of studying many kinds of materials and chemical reactions never studied before. In this article there are compared and analyzed several simulation results of gas flow in the specimen chamber of ESEM with high gas pressure throughout the whole volume except on its optical axis, where low gas pressure is needed.

Precise Image Registration Used for Correction of Geometrical Image Distortion

Image composition
Smital, Petr ; Petyovský, Petr (referee) ; Richter, Miloslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with methods of improving the quality of image output of an electron microscope by composing consecutive frames. The thesis contains a brief description of an electron microscope and the problems that deteriorate its image quality, and three basic mathematical algorithms that can be used to remove them. These are the simple averaging method, the method of least squares and the method of vector space. For all of the methods, the thesis describes ways of their implementation, the possibilities of their use and their mutual comparison. This thesis also deals with the problem of so-called superresolution, i.e. exceeding the physical resolution of a sensor using the methods mentioned above, and the problem of electron beam centring.
